Problem consideredTobacco use is the second most common preventable cause of death in world and quitting tobacco an important strategy to prevent premature morbidity mortality. The objective this study was determine correlates quit attempts among users India from GATS-2 data.MethodsComplex sample analysis considered for logistic regression identify using Global Adult Tobacco Survey (GATS)- 2 (2016–17) data. Weighted estimates were calculated statistics.ResultsA marked difference observed attempt rates across various states (p < 0.001). rate current smokers smokeless 33.7% [95% confidence interval (CI) = 32.8–34.7] 28.9% CI 28.1–29.6] as per GATS 2. Individuals scheduled caste other backward classes had higher odds making a smokers. Among (SLT), factors namely age, belonging having belief that dangerous health independently associated with attempts. Majority users, 83.5% (95%CI 82.2–84.8) 88%(95%CI 87.0–88.9) SLT made without any cessation aid.ConclusionFormulating control policies specific groups identified may bridge gap between services. varying reported country necessitates stringent implementation programmes.
